I haven't blogged for a while we have been very busy! Here is a quick update of what we have been doing.
Nursery
I am glad I started introducing Isabella to nursery in February in preparation for my return to work. The first couple of months were tough and she would cry as soon as we got to the nursery door and for about 1/2 an hour after me going. But she got used to me going away and coming back and towards the end she was quite happy to run in and just wave me goodbye for up to 2 hours. Now we have started her permanent nursery and again are building up slowly before I return to work at the end of August.
Isabella has done 3 introduction sessions to date and is doing brilliantly, I am so proud of her. On the second session I was suppose to stay and hour and leave her for 1/2 hour but left after 20 minutes as she was so settled and happy playing, I left her. On the third visit she was quite happy to be left for 2 hours. She is confident enough to ask for the toilet (was one of my worries as I didn't want to go back to putting her in pull ups!). So we will continue building up and then she will start two days per week in July and August going up to 4 days per week in September. But it comforting seeing how settled and happy she is.
Best Friend
Isabella's best friend is our neighbours daughter Emily who is 3 1/2 every day Emily and her brother knock for her on the way to nursery/school and on the way home. I open the door and they all pile into the house! Or all run into our neighbours house! They all adore each other. Emily bought Isabella a pair or flip flops for her holiday to France next week. She calls them Eminy shoes because she cant quite say Emily yet! And insisted on taking them to bed with her the first night she got them!
House
We have been waiting for our builder to do some work ( nothing major) since last year!!!!!!!!! Its now June and we are still waiting and he keeps giving us new dates and nothing materialises, and now wet into contact with him. He is very trustworthy and has done a lot of work for us in the past. He is just busy and taking the ostrich approach rather then telling us that! So I am frantically trying to find other workmen to do the jobs. Why? We are finally putting our house on the market! Two houses in our road have recently sold despite the recession both at the full asking price. So Ma Ma is frantically decorating, and doing all the DIY jobs outstanding. We will probably put in on the market at the end of July. We hope we haven't missed the boat, and are in no rush to move, but will put it up for sale and see what happens. Its a blessing with Isabella starting nursery as I can rush home and do a couple of hours DIY!
After our loft conversion last year the whole house really needed to be re-decorated. We had a very dirty sooty attic which cascaded a black wave of dust and dirt throughout the house! We did the entire hallway, and attic bedroom and bathroom before Isabella arrived. And since she has been home I have done the
bathroom, our bedroom and spare bedroom. So its just now all the outside windows and sills! Lounge and dining room! I have made a long list for every room of the things that need doing and we are going to be busy! But we should be ready at the end of July, as our new joiner will hopefully have changed the bottom sash window which he is currently making and boxing in our new boiler with the cabinet we already have!
Holiday!
We are off to Paris and Eurodisney next week. I hope Isabella likes it! So this weekend we have our 12 months report being done ( due end of July), and then its DIY and sorting out clothes for us to take!
I will take lots of pictures and update when I get back.
Sadly the Wong blog will also disappear soon. We started this simply so our friends and family could follow our adoption whilst we were in China. We then carried it on for a keepsake for Isabella for our first 12 months together. So at the end of July the Wong's adoption journey will cease. However, I will update our facebook page with pictures and post a link for people to join before the blog goes.

I enjoyed reading about your family for the past year or so. I am also cantonese and adopted our daughter from Guangdong in Feb 2007. We are in line for #2 and still waiting! ha ha!
Wishing you the best for your family and pretty Isabella!
