Yesterday was Consulate and issuement of settlement visa day. It was a nightmare. The address emailed to us was on the 2nd floor of a hotel. Our appointment was to arrive between 10.00-11.00 and we got to the hotel early around 09.50! When we got there we were told by a consulate employee that we needed to go to another department 10 minutes away so jumped into a taxi and sped off ( OK, crawled it was rush hour!), at the other department we were told 'no' we needed to go to yet another section 10 minutes away! At this stage we were very stressed and decided to return to the original hotel address. Hubby called the telephone number on the email, which you needed to give your credit card details and pay $10 for advise! We were told initially to go to yet another department and then finally after checking, yes we needed to go the original hotel! By this stage we were there! The department was off the hotel next door through a shopping mall on the 2nd floor! We arrived just before 11.00 hot and stressed! But we were seen and did get our visa about 2 hours later.
Isabella has come on so well, and has so easily attached its incredible. However yesterday she grabbed a charity toy from the front desk which Ba Ba bought for her and she was cuddling and kissing it. But it soon triggered a memory or something and a few minutes later she was crying and inconsolable. Touching the toy and then screaming and sobbing. It was heart breaking to see and nothing would comfort her. Eventually she dropped the toy and we moved it out of view. I took her for a walk to distract her and brought her back and made her a bottle to comfort her which worked and she was soon back to her normal happy self.
Also yesterday she met Ma Ma ( lower tone! for Grandma) for dinner who gave her some new clothes and a toy! Grandma is staying at our hotel and will travel back with us to Hong Kong tomorrow so she can spend a lot of time with us.
Here is Ms Wong dressed for dinner in her Primark finest!

Dear Suzanne,
What a day. The stress of the visas and Isabella's mystery sadness. What a wonderful mum you are, to recognize her grief for what it is and to comfort her so well.
I hope your time in Hong Kong with family goes really well.
With love,
Julie for the Landinos
