This week I have been taking it easy as my back has been a bit painful. This is just an old muscle injury that flares up from time to time. Hence lots of heat pads and rest! Probably not ideal with the marathon in 4 weeks as its not time to taper as yet. But at the same time there is no point aggravating it and making it worse.
So this weeks running has been one gym session of 8 Km ( 5 miles) and the Reading 1/2marathon so only 18.1 miles. Normally hubby and I run the Reading 1/2 together so it was strange to run it alone and not have him at my side. But the run was OK on my back. I did take some NSAID'S before I ran. And I completed a personal best of 1 hour 56 minutes and 34 seconds. Which is 5 minutes faster than last year. I could of pushed myself a little harder but am very happy with the result and it is 3 minutes faster than hubby's PB! (he he!). However, the negative side is that I have two huge blisters????? These are the trainers I have run in since December with no blisters even on my 20 mile runs???!
2006 2 hours 18 minutes
2007 2 hours 3 minutes
2008 2 hours 1 minute
2009 1 hour 56 minutes
Now its just one more long run next weekend and then taper down to the big event! Its a scary thought!
