The finished OHGW quilt
My OHGW quilt arrived back from the quilters where it was long arm quilted. Its so beautifully done. The first slide shows the first 4 rows being pieced together. The second photograph is of the finished quilt top laying on the wadding and quilt backing prior to being trimmed. The third picture shows the finished quilt which I placed on the spare bed to photograph. Daisy thought it looked comfortable and promptly went to sleep! Additionally there are some close ups of the front and back so you can see the long arm quilt pattern. The pictures really don't do it justice. I just hope baby Wong likes it when they are older. I just need to finish the wishes. These are all glued onto paper and laminated. I just need to now bind these together with a page of photographs for baby Wong to keep and to see who donated a square and wish.
We had a lovely weekend in Oxford. I woke up on Saturday with a sore throat, and by the evening, I felt terrible! It even hurt to eat. We got up for the run this morning and I was thinking about pulling out, but after breakfast and a lemsip I felt a little better so decided to go for it and to stop if needed. We started off quite fast and I was comfortable running at that pace. We ran like that until 6KM ( 30 minutes!), and then the affect of the cold caught up and from 6-8 KM I struggled, but continued to push myself on. At 8 KM I felt better ( knew the end was in sight), but Terry got really bad stitch he blamed on the large cooked breakfast he ate! and we finished the run in just over 52 minutes, which was a minute faster than we ran the course last year. Now we are home, I feel lousy and regret running and pushing myself so hard. I am also teaching all day tomorrow and am the only person who is able to do this, so have to go in regardless. But it was so nice to also catch up with old friends. We wont see them again until September as we all have places in the great north run. Hopefully we will have baby Wong and either Daddy or grandad Wong will be babysitting!
My FIL has had a update on his Chengdu apartment, the only thing damaged was a vase! And his neighbours lost their TV set which fell to the floor! He is flying into Chengdu tomorrow and we will catch up with him next weekend. I know that we are so lucky as not to have lost any relatives or had any major damage from this terrible tragedy.
