On November 3rd 2006 our dossier left Darlington and was couriered to Beijing arriving on November 6th. I remember how excited we were as we tracked our precious paperwork all along its journey until it safely reached the CCAA. The final stage of our adoption journey! Our papers were then officially logged in (LID) on November 29th 2006, one year today!
Our letter from the DFEs at the time stated the waiting time was 8-10 months! Now its 24 months! We are hoping to be expedited on Chinese heritage grounds, and had to submit more notarised documents to the CCAA in July, to try to get our claim recognised. The current expedited waiting time is 14-15 months, which would mean that we would receive our referral potentially in February. But the CCAA are also known to not give expedited referrals at the last minute, for various reasons. We are hoping we will not be one of these cases. So we hope for the best and prepare for the worst! Which is potentially another 2+ year wait ( another 355 LID days ahead of us!.
