The work has started!

The dreaded day has arrived when the work for the loft conversion has started. We spent all weekend in the dusty attic emptying it out, with trips to my father in laws garage to store things and a trip to the dump to get rid of all the rubbish! (Most left by previous owners!). But in true British workmen fashion the scaffolding which was suppose to arrive and be assembled on Saturday was cancelled, so they just turned up at 08.30 this morning. The same time as the plumber! Talk about chaos! Poor Daisy our tiny kitten was nearly trampled on by a scaffolder, when they started to bring the poles through the kitchen for access to the back! So we had to lock the two kittens in the dining room all day just for their safety, poor things. Our older cat is wise and scarpers over the garden fence and just watches the house from a distance. Coming home when he knows the workmen have gone or he can safely sneak in and run upstairs to hide!

As we are having our boiler changed to a combi boiler to get rid of the hot water tank in the loft,, so we have no central heating or hot water tonight! I made sure I had a bath and washed my hair at 07.30! On reflection a loft conversion starting in November is probably not an ideal time! Good job we have a gas fire in the front room so we can have some heat!

In one day the scaffolders and plumbers have worked there was through an assortment pack of Marks and Spencers biscuits! (Its Tesco's from tomorrow!). Oh well only another 8 weeks of this left!
