I got home from work last night to find our older rescue cat 'dusty' lying listlessly on the sofa. He wouldn't even get down for food which is so unlike him. Eventually and very slowly he went upstairs and just hid himself under the bed. He didn't eat or come out all night and was just not himself. I took a days annual leave and got an emergency vet appointment this morning as I was so worried.
The vet spent ages examining him, trying to work out what was wrong. He had a slight temperature, broken claws and was very tender over the pelvic area so she seems to think that this all fits with being knocked by a car. Luckily there are no internal injuries or breaks he is just very tender. So has kitty NSAID's and was given some antibiotics.
We have put him in the new attic bedroom where he has buried himself up in the duvet! He has now eaten a little bit, and even purred. So is obviously feeling a lot better. I will give him some more analgesia tomorrow and we will just leave him in a quiet room for about 24 hours to recover from his shock and to rest. Poor thing, its terrible seeing animals suffer, but hopefully he is on the mend.
