Since the London marathon in April, my fitness has rapidly declined! I pulled a back muscle in the summer which made running a problem ( too painful). Therefore poor Terry had to run the Jersey marathon by himself in October, as I just couldnt train up beyond 14 miles. I then didn't run for a couple of months just to rest and recover properly. But today was such a beautiful winters day, cold but sunny, perfect running weather. So we got the DLR to the cutty sark, and ran down the thames path, past the dome to the thames barrier ( 6.7 Km), and then ran back. I stopped off at the dome and caught a bus home as I could feel a niggling pain in my back and decided not to push it! Terry carried on and ran back to Greenwich , and met me at home. I ran a total of 10 kms in 58 minutes ( 16 Ipod songs!). Pretty slow compared to before the marathon when I would run the same distance in 50-53 minutes, but I am very unfit, and was really proud of my efforts! Now I feel so much better for the exercise!
I didnt get in the public ballot for the marathon this year, but Terry did ( again) but had deferred his place so we can hopefully run it together again next year! I guess if we do get our referral, we will have to get used ( or Terry will!), running with a buggy! We will be one of those really irritating people you see out, and think poor child!
