Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Things had been going too smoothly with the loft conversion. Yes I can live with the everlasting dust! The extra holes that have occurred in the Victorian original limestone plaster! ( a little bit of plaster can fix that!), coming home to wash up every cup in the house, mop the tea stains up left on the work surface and to replace the toilet roll every day! ( I am sure its all the biscuits they eat!)

Anyway when we got home last night we realised that the area where the shower is going is go to be too small a space (enclosed shower bar door!). Even before the plaster and tiling it is already over a cm under the size of the shower tray and shower door. We also used next doors ( loft converted with same company, 12 months ago) as a template when ordering all the bathroom suit, and theirs is 5 cm larger after plastering and tiling!. So it was obvious that the shower tray and shower door probably would not fit or be shoehorned into a very tiny space! Now I know maths was never my strong point! But I could pretty much work this one out.

So the joiners arrived this morning, after hubby had just left for work ( good timing!). He was going to call them, but I thought it was easier if I spoke to them face to face. Well one of the joiners argued that the tray would go in ( resting on the partition wood, with no plasterboard wall behind it, just wood and insulation! (words tight and squeeze come to mind). And that the door would probably fit! Rather than take a chance as the joiners will finish this week, and before the partition wall was plastered I asked them to move it to allow us more space.

After shouting at me ( he did apologise when I asked him to stop!). I firmly told him we were not happy with the size and didn't want to take the risk of both the shower tray and door not fitting! I then called Terry to try to diffuse the situation and they reluctantly agreed to move the wall! Yep as I was in the study checking my work emails and getting ready for work, I could hear the moans, and mumblings about us over the tea cups and biscuits being munched.

Hubby also spoke to our old builder who is doing the tiling ( hopefully or its a weekend job for us). And he agreed this was ridiculously small and that it was better to be over than under!

Anyway lets see what they have done when I get home tonight! As we hired a reputable ( and expensive) loft company so that we would not have to project manage the work! I hope that this is the only glitch! Hubby also reported our concerns to the head office so there is also a record.

I will post pictures this weekend of the progress and transformation. I keep telling myself it will all be worthwhile ( sound familiar, just like the adoption waiting!).
