On the roof - Literally!

Since we bought our house we have completely renovated and re decorated it from top to bottom, new kitchen, bathroom, re sanded and varnished the Victorian floor boards, stripped the doors back to wood and waxed them, re done the front and back gardens, turf, paving slabs ( yes we did this ourselves including mixing the cement!) and laying the decking. We were very busy for over 12 months. The last thing on our list was to get the loft converted into another bedroom and bathroom and that was out of our DIY scope!

Two and half years ago, we painted the outside of our house. There is a long story behind this in that I ended up climbing up the ladder and painting both the front and back of the house whilst my hubby held the ladder. His excuse, his feet were two big for the ladder ( he is 5 feet 8" and has UK/US size 8 shoes??, I am 5' 8" and have UK size 7 US 9 feet! :)

When I painted the top of the house, with the long ladder we hired. I couldn't reach a wooden panel at the very top (it is a tall house!). Therefore we left it. Now we have scaffolding up for the loft conversion, it was a good time to paint the panel to match the rest of the outside decor. After deciding the one scaffolding ladder was a bit daunting to climb, we decided to get onto the top of the scaffolding through the velux windows in the roof. It was easy to do! (ish). To cut a long story short, I ended up bending over the scaffolding wood to paint it all the paneling as my hubby froze in fear and couldn't move!. (Couldn't use the feet excuse this time). Mmmmmmmmm

But I love him lots:) And it was very funny ( not for him!). I hope baby Wong will be more like her/his Ma Ma than Baba when it comes to decorating!

The stair case is now up and nearly all the plasterboard is in place so next week it should be time for the plasterers to arrive and the electricians to put in all the lights and plug sockets. I am not sure when the plumber is back and we need to tile the new bathroom floor and walls. We hope to get our old builder to do this, but if not then I guess we will be spending a weekend tiling! We managed to cut and lay paving stones to the front a back garden and its the same principle ! Ha! I will take some pictures tomorrow of the progress and post later in the week.

I have also spent all day still clearing up the dust (again, my bathroom has never been cleaned so many times in a week!) However now the flooring is down and plasterboard is up, this should be the worst of it now! Cant wait to get back to normality!

I also managed to do a bit of shopping. I got the final bits and pieces for the Chinese New year swap. Everything is now wrapped in red tissue paper and packed ready to be posted as soon as I know my swap partner and I bought two pairs of really cute pyjamas and dressing gown/slipper set ( they were a bargain!), for the pyjama swap. I love buying presents and taking part in the swaps. Its great fun!

I'm feeling pretty miserable at the moment as I've never had anything like this before. The Doctors don't seem to know what to do with me and I think everyone thinks I'm making it up!! Oh well!

Hope you feel better soon poor thing. When I get stressed and overwork I always go down with nasty colds, and seem to attract every virus around.

Hopefully you will be on the mend soon. But keep going back if things dont get better :)
