Where did last year go!

Well its now 2008 can you believe how quickly last year went. On reflection, it was a good year. We got the Gremlins which have kept us very busy! Initially as they were feral we had to socialise them, which was a slow process. But now they are so affectionate ( which is fine but not at 3,5 and 6 AM ! Very sleep deprived today, thanks Dylan!) Its good practice for children I suppose! Our older cat still hates them and I don't think will ever forgive us! But they are able to live in the house together so that's the main thing. They all have their own little space!

We managed a couple of really good holidays in Italy to Sardinia and Sicily, plus we travelled for two conferences to Barcelona and Boston.

We also did the London marathon albeit in a very slow time as I pulled my calf muscle at 14 miles! But we crossed that finish line and raised £2,600 for charity. Terry also managed to run the Jersey marathon as well! This was the man who hated running when I first met him 10 years ago!

We got planning permission and have started our loft conversion, which we hope will be finished in about 5 weeks! Terry's sister had her first child who is absolutely beautiful:) And I am nearly ready to submit my book ( a few more days of hard editing and pending one final chapter submission!). I am afraid its a nursing text book on liver diseases and it wont be a best seller like Dan Brown! But it will be a good accomplishment.

We have also made some very good friends in the adoption community and have seen some of them bring their children home this year!

We hope that we will receive our referral this year after having our heritage expedited claim confirmed by BLAS in August. Sadly the CCAA didn't do any more Heritage expedited referrals this month, so here hoping they only miss January and do some more referrals in February. Wouldn't that be a fantastic birthday present. I just wish that BLAS would get back to me and let me know that there are no problems with the dossier! That's the hardest part of this is the lack of information and the insecurity that it brings.

I hope the CCAA do speed us as they only referred 3 months of applications in 2007! And the waiting time is now 25 months! They have probably only referred to December 19th 2005 this month and our log in date is November 29th 2006!

The uncertainty is the hardest part of adopting from China, I hope that they acknowledge your claim for expedition and referral comes soon. It will all be worth it in the end (I hated that statement while waiting, but it is so true!)
Good luck with the builders,
Kate

Thanks Kate, I know that all this waiting will be worth while when we finally meet baby Wong! Hopefully this time next year it will all be a distant memory!
