Update

I have been quiet for a few days on the blogging front and emails. We had a busy weekend, we finally picked up the bathroom tiles which was the last thing we needed to buy. Sadly we had no lie in over the weekend. On Saturday the roofer came and started at 08.00AM but it was worth it as at least it is waterproof with no rain pouring down the loft hatch. Dylan is still doing his wake up kisses. Having him slobber all over you at 2 a.m is not a nice way to wake up!

We did manage to squeeze in an 8 mile run ( 8.8 miles according to the Ipod which over reads!). I ran quite hard for the first 6 miles in a time of 54 minutes then slowed down for the last two! I was quite pleased as last year I did the Oxford town and gown 10 km run in 53 minutes so I am not too far off this. I am going to try hard to get fit and to aim for 51 minutes this year, which is feasible. It was very hot and sunny last year and I stopped for drinks at several stops and to cool down!, so I could easily shave 2 minutes off the time. It is a lovely race through the beautiful town of Oxford, and all the colleges. It has turned into an annual event as this will be our third year in a row. Two of our friends meet us every year and bring their 4 children! One runs, on babysits, so it is always a lovely social event, with a nice dinner and catch up the night before. The hotel we stay in is a Holiday inn but has a swimming pool so the kids love it!They live in Leeds so we only see them once or twice per year. At least we know we can carry on the tradition after we adopt! And bring baby Wong along.

I have been giving evidence in court for a professional conduct tribunal. I cant talk about it as the case is going on all week and some of the witnesses have not given evidence yet. They should finish on Friday and hopefully reach a decision, when the case is finished I can post more then but will maintain anonymity, although it will all be available as a public record. It was tough being on the stand giving evidence for nearly 2 1/2 hours, and being asked questions by a total of 5 people!

I arrived home to a black cloud of dust everywhere. Yep the ceiling is now cut out and all pulled down ready for the staircase to be fitted. This house is over a 100 years old plus they had chimneys and fire places in each room so there was a lot of dust and soot under the old flooring etc!. I have cleaned the bathroom 3 times, and had to have another bath at the end of it, just to get the soot off me. The rest of the house can wait for a good clean until Friday, but the worse is now done! Once the stair case is up the upstairs floor will be finished ( 3/14 down) and the plasterboard will go up.

Another November LID person of Chinese heritage has posted to say that her agency China contact has spoken to the CCAA about expedited referrals. The CCAA have said they are doing the missed October LIDS first. This would explain my China email saying we are reviewed but not in the matching room yet ( I hope). We will just have to wait and see what happens at referral time. Hopefully it will occur in the next couple of months so we can finally meet baby Wong soon.

I have also signed up for two swaps in addition to the monthly bib swap. A Chinese new year swap and pyjama swap. So I have bought most of my stuff for the CNY swap and have tried to keep it as traditional as possible. It was fun shopping and trying to find a couple of things with a rat in it as 2008 is year of the rat. I will get the pyjamas when I know who I have been matched with so I can buy the right size. And my February bibs are all ready to post! This will be my 6th and final month. And I have collected some cute bibs.

You've been busy!

I wish I could run that long. The longest I've been able to do is 4 miles in about 33 minutes. I just don't think 8 miles for me is gonna happen!

I thought about signing up for the CNY swap, but haven't been able to find much around here so decided against it. I have so many pj's already that I passed on that one. Looking forward to the onesie swap next month, though! You can never have too many of those!

Good luck on the expedite! Hoping to hear of your referral soon!

Thanks Brandi
I just built up slowly run a little, walk a little! I built up for a 5 k run, then 10 K, 1/2 marathon and full marathon!

Things we do when waiting for our babies. The swaps are great. I am also doing the onesie swap, but being a Brit it took me ages to work out what it was:)

PS 4 miles in 33 minutes is very fast! I would be eating your dust!

Oh crud! I wish I could run 4 miles in 33 minutes! I have NO idea what I was thinking! It takes me around 50 minutes to run 4 miles...approx. 12 minutes or so per mile. Like I said, no idea where I got those numbers! I can run on the elliptical machine a lot faster than I can physically run...about 4 miles in approx. 38-40 minutes. Maybe that's what I was thinking...who knows?! Sorry for the confusion. I'm pretty sure I'd be eating your dust!!!! :)
