We were met at the airport by our guide Mary and taken to the hotel. We are staying at the best Western Hotel, its about 20 minutes out of town, but is right next to the shopping centre which has a food hall, restaurants and a huge Walmart!
We booked a suite, and here are some pictures. Its huge and so luxurious the pictures don't really do it Justice!, it has 2 bathrooms! A large lounge and bedroom and Isabella's cot was all set up waiting for us! And free Internet access!!!!
We have been shopping in Walmart and bought a stroller! Which we will take home with us. And a few other things. We still need to get some formula but know the brand and have it written in Chinese characters. We can get that in the morning. Hubbys Cantonese is coming in very useful as most people speak and understand Cantonese albeit with a Nanning accent!
We are meeting our guide at 3pm tomorrow and then being taken to meet Isabella. We know we will be meeting her with other adopters who are American and that Isabella is the only one from her orphanage. Poor little thing is going to have a four hour van journey to meet us, so she is going to be petrified and shocked, and then whisked away by strangers! This is one of the reason we booked a suite incase we need to spend time in our hotel room. She will need lots of TLC tomorrow so that's why we wanted to have everything here such as foods that she is familiar with. We were told that Isabella will probably have been spoken to in Zhong dialect. But hopefully some of words will be similar to either Mandarin or Cantonese and she can understand some of what is being said to her.
Well tomorrow is a big day for all of us. Finally meeting our daughter, a big upheaval and change for poor Isabella and hubby's birthday!

Yeah, Suzanne!! Tomorrow will be so wonderful - if not more than a bit overwhelming. The girls in our group held up very well even after equally long trips from their orphanages. We have done our best to keep to a schedule, but are nonetheless finding plenty of time to leave the room and explore. Tonight we left Shamian Island for a stroll across the bridge where we found friendly people and great Cantonese food at a fraction of the price of anything on the island!
Our daughter has gone in the pool twice - she shows no fear and loves adventure!
Best of luck - our thoughts are with you,
Cathy and Paul
